According to reports, Premier League giants Manchester United allegedly considered a summer move for Chelsea midfield maestro Jorginho while the player was still at Serie A side Napoli.
The Italy international midfielder followed Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri from the Serie A club to the Premier League last summer transfer window, but according to local Manchester tabloid, Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils looked at the Italian midfielder as well.
The 201-time English League champion were in the transfer market for a replacement for Englishman Michael Carrick in the middle of the park, and a holding midfielder and ball-playing player like the Italian surely would have fill the void nicely.
Instead, Manchester United brought in Brazil international midfielder Fred from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, who has since struggled for form and fitness at his new club.
Still, the Chelsea man has also not had a convincing campaign with former Premier League champions Chelsea, despite having made brilliant impression when the Blues were unbeaten at the start of the season.
Since then, Maurizio Sarri’s men have become easy to figure out, however, with clubs tending to get tight on the Chelsea summer signing in order to stop the Blues dictating the flow of games from midfield.
It remains to be discovered if Jorginho, 27, could have performed better at Old Trafford, who have also had their own issues this season, having replaced Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho with Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hired in December.
