Real Madrid are in a situation whereby they need to bring in new players come January to catch up on league leaders, Barcelona. To do this, Real manager, Santiago Solari is looking at bringing in Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata back to Spain. The midfielder who was part of the Spain world cup winning squad in 2010 is being touted as a fast solution to Real’s midfield situation.
Reports from El Gol Digital suggest that the 30 year old is not willing to sign a contract extension at the end of the season when his current contract expires. This means that Real will have the opportunity to discuss a move to the Bernarbeu from January and he will be joining them as a free agent at the end of the season.
At 30, Mata is one of the most successful Spanish players abroad as he has won almost everything in England. Two Europa league medals, two FA cup medals, a Champions league medal and a Carabao cup medal all within eight years of playing for Chelsea and Manchester United.
With the current situation between Isco and manager Solari, a move for Mata could be used to replace his fellow Spaniard. If the move eventually materialize, Mata will be remembered as a player that gave his all for the team and also find a way to work with a manager that once sold him. Real will be getting a leader and an experience player for free but it will be a homecoming for him as he started his youth career at Real Madrid academy.
