Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he wants his squad to “attack quickly” next term.

United are bound to be connected with a number of players ahead of the window as the Norwegian looks to stamp his authority on the squad.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult campaign this term following the dismissal of manager Jose Mourinho in December as a result of poor streak of form.

The former Molde boss managed to revive United’s good fortunes for some months but the 20-time English champions regressed to suffer defeats in eight of their last 11 matches across all competitions.

United have since fallen way off behind Liverpool FC arch-rivals Manchester City and to show the huge gap between the Premier league’s top two teams and Solskjaer’s men.

The United head coach will be keen on signing new players in the summer that are good enough to play in the style that he envisages for the squad.

Discussing this at his pre-match presser about his expectation for the side ahead of his side’s tie against relegated Huddersfield Town on Sunday Solskjaer said the best style to play at Man United is to attack quickly.

He stressed the importance of playing forward, running forward, chasing back, winning back the ball.

The former Premier League champions suffered a disappointing 4-0 aggregate defeat to La Liga champions Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League last-8 a month ago.

Manchester United were defeated by ‘giant killers’ Wolves in the Emirates FA Cup last-8 to miss out on two major cup competitions this campaign.
