The January transfer window has officially opened and this can only mean clubs will want to get deals underway as soon as possible. This is why Man United are closing in quickly on Roman defender, Kontas Manolas. The Greek defender has been a monster at the back for Roma and a host of top clubs have been eyeing to snap him off the Italian side.
With United in the fray, a deal could be wrapped up sooner than expected. Daily Express is reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that it’s the Roman defender that can help solve his defensive worries. Solksjaer have always insisted that his team need to improve defensively and he has highlighted Manolas as the right player.
Roma has priced their defender at €36million (£32.4m) as his release clause in his contract and this seems easy for United to meet. The 27 year old is one of the best defenders in Serie-A and at his price, United could be getting a more realistic deal done in January than other transfer option in the cards like Toby Alderweireld, Kalidou Koulibaly and Eder Militao.
It is expected that United will submit a bid within the week for him and a deal could be finalized very soon. He will be a very good addition to the club and United will be getting a very good defender at that.
