It was another good day in office for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and his team as they ensure they maintained their 100% record. A 2-0 win against Newcastle as predicted was enough to see them continue the push on the top four place. With just six points between United in sixth and Chelsea in fourth position, this could be United opportunity to finally close the gap for the top four race.
Solksjaer continued his rotation policy by giving chance to Juan Mata to start alongside Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. This was a very significant one as it helped keep everyone fresh and less prone to injury.
Two second half goals from substitute Romelu Lukaku, and Marcus Rashford were enough to see off resistant Newcastle lose at the St James Park. It was a scrappy first half performance from United and the host also did little to show that they wanted to win. The best United chance in the first half went to Juan Mata which was a loose ball but Martin Dubravka was there on time to make the necessary clearance.
The second half was much better and it make sense that both Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez came on and make massive impact that opened up the game. Lukaku came on in the 62nd minute and scored in the 64th minute with his first touch. Rashford rounded up the game in the 80th minute with a beautiful goal that was set up by Sanchez.
With this performance, both Sanchez and Lukaku might finally get their first start under Solksjaer.
